Description
Green Corner is a house dating from the 17th century, located on the west side of Elstow High Street. It has a timber frame structure with 19th-century brick casing on the southern gable end and roughcast render on the front. The roof is covered with clay tiles. The original front block features a two-room plan, consisting of one storey and attics. At the rear, there are one and two-storey blocks that were added in the 19th century. The front elevation has two five-light casement windows on the ground floor and two hipped dormers with two-light casements. There is a 20th-century door to the right and a red brick double ridge stack that serves back-to-back hearths. Inside, the blackening of some rafters suggests that the chimney is a later addition.
No. 205, which is included for its group value, is an early 19th-century house made of red brick with a clay tile roof. It has a symmetrical two-room plan and is two storeys high, with a lower block projecting from the rear. Each floor contains two sash windows with glazing bars set under flat arches. The central doorway features a rectangular fanlight, Tuscan pilasters, and a cornice, with integral stacks at both gable ends.
