Description
The Red Lion Public House is a public house with a front block featuring a circular plaque that reads "SW 1798," which was added to the gable end of an earlier rear wing, likely from the 17th century. The building is constructed with colour washed rough cast over a timber frame and has clay tile roofs, with the rear block having a hipped roof. Overall, it forms a large rectangular structure of two storeys.
On the front elevation, there are two 3-light casements on both floors, all from the 20th century. The central doorway features a 6-panel door set in a moulded surround, topped with an open pediment supported by consoles. A red brick integral stack is located at the gable end. The south elevation includes two rectangular projecting bays with hipped roofs and a variety of casements, all featuring leaded lights. The doorway on this elevation is similar to the one at the front. There are also various single-storey additions on the north and east elevations.
