Description

Nos 52 and 54 on Mill Road are cottages dating from the 19th century, specifically after 1805. They feature a colour washed rough cast exterior over a timber frame and a thatched roof. Originally, they were designed as a two-room cottage with one storey and attics, including a central back-to-back fireplace. There is a one-room extension to the south made of colour washed brick with a thatched roof, and a two-storey extension to the north constructed from colour washed brick and slate. The ground floor has a variety of windows, including two 2-light horizontal sashes, and there are two eyebrow dormers, also with 2-light horizontal sashes that have glazing bars. The cottages have plank doors.
