Description
No. 16 High Street is a house dating from the early 17th century, which was refronted in the early 19th century and underwent some mid-19th century alterations, with restoration taking place in the late 20th century. The building features a timber frame clad in brick and has a tiled roof, with a large stack at the rear. It stands three storeys high above a basement and is topped with a dentilled brick cornice.
The front elevation includes one window with a 20-pane boxed sash under a segmental head, and on the second floor, there is a 9-pane fixed window. On the ground floor, to the right, there is a 20-pane 20th-century boxed sash window, while the entrance to the left features a 3-pane overlight above a 6-panel door, with the upper four panels being glazed. The timber framing is visible at the rear, with small square panels on the painted sandstone basement.
