Description
Castle Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and repairs in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, topped with a tiled roof. The building has an L-shape, with sections extending to the north and west, and a main stack at the junction that includes four linked diamond-plan shafts from the 19th century. A stair turret is located on the south front.
On the south front, there is a gabled cross-wing to the right that has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with tiled weathering on both the first and ground floors. Each floor has a slightly projecting 5-light oriel window. To the left of the cross-wing is the gabled stair turret, which also has two storeys, featuring an entrance at the left corner and a window on each floor. Further to the left, there is another two-storey section, each lit by a 2-light casement window. The framing of the cross-wing on the south gable consists of six square panels high, with two collars and multiple struts, along with a pair of curved raking struts at the apex. The other range and stair turret have four square panels high.
