Description
Mill House is a building that was originally constructed as a mill house and is now partly used as offices. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations over time. The structure is primarily made of red brick laid in Flemish bond and features a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate. The roof has brick dentilled eaves and includes two brick stacks positioned off the ridge.
The building stands three storeys tall with a cellar and has a three-window range on the front facade. The windows are plate glass horned sashes, set within painted reveals, and are adorned with painted channelled voussoirs, keystones, and sills. The windows on the second floor are smaller than those on the lower floors. On the ground floor, there are two windows on either side of a central doorcase. This doorcase is framed by wooden pilasters resting on stone plinths, topped with an open dentilled pediment. It features a fanlight with radial glazing bars and a six-panel door, with a stone step leading up to it.
On the right side of the building, there are three plate glass sashes and a two-storey wing that contains two 12-pane sashes. The left side, which faces Bridge Street, has three bricked-up windows that also have painted channelled voussoirs, keystones, and sills. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
