Description

The Post Office is a house from the 17th century that was refaced in the early 18th century. The main part of the building is constructed of early 18th century red brick with ashlar dressings, forming an L-shape with plain tile roofs that are hipped at the angle and feature one ridge stack. At the north end, there is a blue lias stone range that is gable-ended to the street, likely a cross-wing of the recased 17th century house. A brick stack is located on the north roof slope.

The main range includes a basement and is two stories high with an attic. There are two dormers on the south side and one on the west front. The building has moulded wooden eaves, raised ashlar quoins, and a moulded band, along with a rubble stone plinth. The west front has two windows, which are wooden cross windows with iron casements, featuring gauged brick window heads and flush stone keystones. The ground floor window has been altered to a 19th century splayed bay with a tiled roof that extends over the door.

On the south front, there is a two-window range of cross windows, with flush quoins only at the west end and no keystones. The rear features blue lias stone with cross windows. The north end has pairs of iron casements on the ground and first floors of the west gable, along with one window range on the north side.
