Description
Whiston Hall is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It features a timber frame with red brick additions and plain tile roofs, some of which have coped verges. The building has L-shaped brick ridge stacks. The 17th-century wing on the north side is aligned east-west and has an extension to the east. There are two parallel ranges to the south, aligned north-south; the western range is an early 18th-century replacement of a 17th-century range, while the eastern range dates from the 19th century. The 17th-century wing on the left is two storeys with an attic and has one window with 20th-century casements. The framing includes tall rectangular panels on the ground storey and small rectangular panels on the first floor. The roof has two collars, one pair of purlins, and a ridge piece. The early 18th-century range is also two storeys with an attic and features a first floor band. It has four windows with casements that have segmental heads, and a 20th-century bay window to the left. There is a six-panelled door to the left of centre, flanked by reeded pilasters, and a gabled dormer to the left of centre.
