Description

Bridge House is a late 18th or early 19th century house located on Bridge Street, Pershore. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with painted stone dressings. The roof is tiled, with a high coped parapet and moulded eaves cornice to the front, along with brick end stacks and one to the ridge.

The house is three storeys high, with a cellar, and has a four-window front, with the left bay slightly projecting. The windows are mostly 8/8 sashes, with 6/6 sashes in bay three, all featuring narrow glazing bars, painted channelled voussoirs and keystones, and sillbands. There are two cellar grilles. The entrance to bay three features a doorcase with panelled reveals, three-quarter Doric columns, an open pediment, a radial-glazed fanlight, a six-panel door, three stone steps with nosings, iron scrapers and handrails, and a firemark above. To the left is a carriage entrance with a brick basket arch, a keystone, springers, a moulded wooden surround, double three-panel doors. A painted moulded plinth runs along the base. A rendered side elevation is present. The rear of the property features a hipped roof, a two-storey canted bay window with partly sashed and partly fixed glazing, and a doorcase with an archivolt and a radial fanlight. Two short wings extend at right angles. The interior has not been inspected.

Historically, Bridge House was the home of the Ganderton family, wool staplers. A wool barn, now derelict and not included in the listing, was formerly part of their premises and is located behind numbers 1 and 3 High Street.
