Description

The Manor House is a house that dates back to the early 17th century, with alterations made in the late 17th, late 18th, and late 19th centuries. It features a timber-frame structure with wattle-and-daub infill and painted brick. The original part of the house consists of two framed bays aligned north to south, with a two-bay brick addition from the late 18th century to the south.

In the middle of the timber section, there is a stack with three diamond shafts, and a late 19th-century addition on the west side contains remnants of what was likely a porch. The entrance would have led into a lobby next to the stack, and there is another stack on the south gable with two diamond shafts.

On the west front, the timber-framed section is on the left, with a late 19th-century extension that is two storeys high with an attic. This extension is lit by a three-light casement in the gable, has an angled bay on the ground floor, and a three-light casement on the first floor. The timber building behind has a blind first floor and two 20th-century two-light casements on the ground floor. To the right, the brick section rises three storeys and features two windows with two- and three-light casements under segmental heads. The ground floor has a four-light casement on the right and an entrance on the left with a pedimented doorcase and a radially glazed fanlight above a six-panelled door.

The framing on the west front shows close-studding with a mid-rail, while the north gable is jettied and has two rectangular panels on each floor with straight tension and angle braces. The roof was raised in the late 17th century by adding one more rectangular panel, and the gable truss features two collars with queen struts and V-struts at the apex. Additionally, on the ground floor of the south gable, there is a six-light ovolo-moulded mullion and transom window.
