Description
This is an early 18th-century shop, originally a house, located on the south side of High Street in Broadway. The building is constructed of square limestone with a stone slate roof. It comprises two storeys with an attic and two bays, although a third bay on the left is now incorporated into the adjacent property at number 73. The ground floor features timber canted bay windows set on stone bases, connected by a stone-slated canopy. The first floor has two-light, rebated and chamfered mullioned windows with stone mullions. Two dormers light the attic. A central door is set within a chamfered surround, and a buttress is located to the right of the facade. The right-hand gable has a coped end, and there's an end chimney. Inside, the middle room on the ground floor has a chamfered spine beam with run-out stops. A photograph taken around 1900 shows that the canopy originally extended to the left, covering a canted bay window that is now part of number 73. At that time, the attic dormers were positioned above the first and third bays.
