Description
This is a shop, likely dating from the early 19th century, with evidence of earlier fabric possibly from the 16th century or before. The building is constructed of squared limestone and render, with remnants of a timber frame. It has a Welsh slate roof. The main facade is stone-faced, featuring two windows on each floor, with plain reveals. The ground floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, while the first-floor windows are casements. A doorway is situated on the left-hand side, also with plain reveals. A similar doorway to the right has a 20th-century timber canopy. A cross-wing is located to the right, which features a late 19th-century shop front with glazing bars and a timber fascia. Above the shop front is a rendered wall with a 20th-century window containing glazing bars. On the ground floor, a plastered principal post with a jetty bracket is visible behind the shop front, providing evidence of the original timber framing. A chimney rises behind the ridge of the roof, positioned to the right of the doorway. The building housed Miss Kathleen Adams’ book-binding business from 1907.
