Description

Barrington's Brasserie and the attached building to the north form the west range of the Lygon Arms Hotel. This structure, originally listed as No 28 (Goblets Wine Bar), dates from the early 18th century, with additions made between 1914 and 1923. It is built of squared limestone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and consists of three bays. There is a drip course along the façade, and the windows are rebated and chamfered with mullions. The ground floor includes stone canted bay windows with three lights at the front and one light on each side. On the first floor, there are two-light windows, and there are three hipped attic dormers. The central doorway has a moulded surround with a canted head, complete with a keystone and impost blocks. The gables are coped, and there is a chimney on the left side. To the right, set back, is a timber bridge built in 1922 that connects the building to the main block of the Lygon Arms Hotel. At the rear, there are gabled additions facing east. Inside, the building features exposed ceiling beams and a stone inglenook in the rear of the right-hand room.
