Description

Badge Court is a house dating from the late 16th century, which was restored in 1977 by F W B Charles. It features a timber-frame construction with lath-and-plaster infill set on an ashlar plinth, along with some brick and ashlar elements. The building has an H-plan layout and includes a lateral stack at the rear of the hall range, which has three restored diamond plan shafts, as well as lateral stacks on the cross-wings.

The front of the house displays two projecting gabled cross-wings and a porch located at the right angle, all of which are two storeys high and have attics illuminated by central gabled dormers and casements in the gables of the cross-wings. The left cross-wing has been restored and features a jettied tie-beam and first floor, with one window on each floor and a large projecting bay window on the ground floor. The hall range includes a 6-light oriel window above a 6-light casement. The gabled porch has a 3-light window above a Tudor arched entrance, which is accessed through a studded 16th-century door. The right cross-wing has a 6-light window on both floors.

The framing of the left cross-wing has been restored and is close-studded with straight angle and tension braces, while the right cross-wing features close-studding with a mid-rail, and its gable has been restored. The rear elevation remains unrestored, showcasing close-studded framing. The interior has not been inspected.
