Description
No. 138 High Street is a house from the early 19th century that has undergone some alterations. It is constructed of red and yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern and features a Welsh-slate roof with painted brick dogtooth eaves. The building has brick stacks located at the center of the ridge and on the right side.
The house is two storeys high and has a cellar, with a two-window range. On the first floor, there are 8/8 sash windows that have painted channelled stepped voussoirs, keystones, and sills. On the ground floor, to the right, there is a canted bay window with a combination of 4/4, 8/8, and 4/4 sashes beneath a pitched leaded roof. To the left, there is a doorcase featuring a brick round arch, a fanlight with radial glazing bars, and a six-panel door, accessed by three stone and brick steps with nosings. The building also has painted plinth courses with a cellar opening located below one of the windows. The interior has not been inspected.
