Description
No. 140 High Street is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with later alterations. The building is constructed of brick that has been rendered with lined stucco. It features a renewed concrete-tile roof with painted brick dogtooth eaves and a brick end-stack on the left side.
The house has three storeys and a cellar, with a two-window range. The first floor has horned 2/2 sash windows, while the smaller 3/3 sash windows are located above. All windows have painted channelled voussoirs, keystones, and tile sills. On the second floor, at the left end, alternate brick courses project.
On the ground floor, there is a canted bay window on the left with renewed 6:12:6-pane glazing and a boarded cellar opening below. To the right, there is a round-arched doorcase with a decorative fanlight, a renewed door, and two steps leading up to it. The interior has not been inspected.
