Description
The Coaching House is a house dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with alterations from the early 19th century and the 20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, incorporating painted brick, and has a machine tile roof. The building comprises two framed bays aligned east to west with a gable-end stack; an early 19th-century brick cross-wing projects from the east end. The south front features one storey with an attic lit by a gable-end window to the right cross-wing, and two gabled dormers to the left. The ground floor has two 3-light casement windows to the left, a 20th-century bow window to the cross-wing, and an entrance to the right of centre of the main range with a 20th-century door. The timber framing is arranged in three square panels high, although much has been replaced. The trusses are collar type with three struts below and two curved raking struts in the apex.
