Description
The village cross, dating from the 15th century, is located about 50 yards east of the Church of St. Barbara in Ashton Under Hill. It is made of limestone and features a square three-stepped plinth that supports a square base with chamfered upper edges. The cross shaft is octagonal and displays a shield relief on the east side. Although the very top of the cross has been replaced by a sundial, it remains largely intact and in good condition. This cross is prominently positioned at the main southern entrance to the village.
