Description
Stone Cottage and Stuart Cottage are two houses built in 1686, with extensions from the 18th century and some alterations from the mid-20th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble and have a machine tile roof. They are arranged in an L-plan, with a stack at the junction. The southern limb is Stone Cottage, which dates from the 18th century, while the eastern limb is Stuart Cottage, dating from the 17th century. Both houses are one storey high with an attic, which is illuminated by two gabled dormers on the left side and a three-light stone mullioned window with a square label on the right-hand gable. The date 1686 is inscribed on the lintel of this window. On the ground floor, there are two casement windows to the left and another three-light stone mullioned window to the right. The entrance to Stone Cottage is located to the left, roughly central under a timber lintel, while the entrance to Stuart Cottage is found in the right-hand wall.
