Description

54 and 56 Newlands are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with later alterations. They feature square-panel timber-framing with rendered infill set on a stone plinth. The cottages have a plain tile roof with a brick end stack on the right and two gabled dormers. The building is a single storey with an attic and has a two-window range, one for each cottage, with the dormers containing 3/3-pane casements. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century casement window on the right that cuts into the framing, and to the left, there is a similar 20th-century bay window next to a 20th-century plank door, both of which are sheltered by a leaded hood. The central doorway has two recessed doors. The interior has not been inspected.
