Description
Turret House is a gazebo located 150 metres south-east of Cookhill Priory, built in 1765. It is constructed of red brick on a stone plinth. While part of the timber-work of the roof remains, the roof covering is missing. The building has a dentil eaves cornice and is octagonal in shape, standing two storeys tall. On the ground floor, there is one window on the south side, which shows evidence of a wedge brick lintel, and a doorway on the north side. The first floor features four windows facing the cardinal directions; the east and west windows have wedge brick lintels and keystones. Inside, the first floor includes a fireplace with a segmental arch and a small hob grate. The date 1765 is scratched onto a brick near the entrance. Currently, the building is in a derelict condition.
