Description
Strand Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with alterations and additions made in the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill panels and has a thatched roof. A large, external, rendered brick chimney stands on the right gable end, featuring tiled offsets and a detached stack. The cottage has two framed bays, with the main entrance in the right gable end. It is a single-storey building with an attic. The timber framing is irregular, consisting of two rectangular panels from the sill to the wall-plate. The gable ends contain collar and tie-beam trusses, with three queen struts to the collar and a V-strut in the apex. The front elevation features four irregularly spaced, 20th-century casement windows. The entrance, located on the front side of the chimney at the right gable end, has a 20th-century part-glazed door. A small, rectangular light is positioned on the front side of the chimney base, and attic lights are found in the gable ends. The interior was not inspected. A 20th-century lean-to extension has been added to the rear.
