Description
Two houses, probably dating from the mid-18th century and refronted in the early 19th century. They are built of red and yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a Welsh slate roof and brick stacks to the ridge between the houses and at the right-hand end. The houses are three storeys high with a cellar. The front elevation has a three-window arrangement. The upper windows are 8/8 sashes with painted reveals, channelled voussoirs, keystones, and sills on the first floor; smaller 8/8 sashes are above. The ground floor features two canted bay windows with pitched leaded roofs containing 4/4:6/6:4/4 sashes, and cellar grilles. To the left is a six-panel door below a fanlight with radial glazing bars, set within a round-arched surround with a panelled reveal. To the right is a basket-arched carriage entrance with a double six-panel door, providing access to the rear of the property, and a round-arched side door with a fanlight similar to that at the front. A rendered plinth is present. Side and rear elevations include sash windows, a narrow lancet window to the first floor of No.47, and a brick dentilled eaves cornice. The interior of No.45 features six-panel doors, cupboards, and a large Bathstone fireplace with a keystone. Documentary evidence confirms the existence of the two houses in 1760.
