Description

This is a late 18th-century terrace of three houses, now used as a post office and shops, located on Sidbury in Worcester. Later additions and alterations occurred, including a late 19th-century shop front on the left-hand side. The houses are constructed of brick, colourwashed, and have a slate roof. Tall reddish-brown brick stacks, with oversailing courses and pots, are present at the right end and party walls; the stack on the right has been rebuilt.

The exterior is three storeys high, with a facade featuring one window on the first floor to the left, and three windows to the right. The first floor has two casement windows, the one to the left being a later addition, followed by two 6/6 sash windows, all set in near-flush frames. The second floor has a single casement window. All windows have sills and flat arches with glazed brick. A modillion eaves band is also present. The ground floor comprises a shop front on the left with end pilasters, fluted corbels, a frieze, and blind boxes, featuring a glazed window and turned modillions incorporating a George VI letter box. A canted, part-glazed door provides entrance to the left of the shop front. Two mid-to-late 20th-century shop fronts are located to the right, each with a 6-panel and part-glazed door and a glazed shop front.

The interior of the left-hand house features a boxed axial beam; the other interiors were not inspected. These houses form a group with numbers 79 and 79A, 81, The Commandery, number 1 The Commandery Drive, and numbers 87-111 (odd).
