Description
87 and 89 Sidbury is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the early 19th century and has had some later additions and alterations, including shop fronts added around the 1970s. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick laid in Flemish bond, featuring flat arches with dark red window arches. It has a double-pitch slate roof and a truncated brick stack at the left end.
The exterior consists of three storeys with two windows on the first floor. On the left side, the first and second floors have one-over-one horned sash windows in near-flush frames. On the right side, there is a mid-19th century canted bay window that extends through the first and second floors, also featuring one-over-one sash windows. The ground floor shop fronts have plate glass windows that are canted towards the outer entrances, along with part-glazed doors.
The interiors have not been inspected. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 79, 79A, 81, The Commandery, No.1 The Commandery Drive, and Nos 87-111 (odd).
