Description
Giulio's Restaurant, originally a school built in 1735, has undergone alterations, including its conversion to a restaurant around 1990. The building features brownish-red, yellow, and purple brick in English bond with a plain tile roof. It is a single tall storey with three windows. The entrance, located to the left, consists of a six-panel door, where the upper four panels are raised-and-fielded and the lower panels are flush beaded. This door is set within a tooled, round-arched surround, topped by a round arch made of gauged brick. Above the entrance is a renewed hood, and a tablet inscribed with, "This School was Founded and Endowed by Queen Elizabeth the Third Year of her Reign and Rebuilt in the Year 1735." The building has round-arched windows with leaded lights, which are boarded from the outside, and brick arches, with three on the front and two on the rear. A modillion eaves band runs along the roofline. There is a central lightwell, and a timber turret with a peaked roof and finial. Inside, the restaurant features a coved ceiling with a cornice and a central moulded cornice in the lightwell. This structure is a fragment of the original building.
