Description
This building, located at 64 High Street, is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone several additions and alterations, including a shop front added in the 1980s. The structure is made of brownish-red brick laid in Flemish bond, featuring renewed cement sills and a cornice, with a concealed roof. It stands four storeys high and has two windows on the first floor. The first and second floors are fitted with 6/6 sash windows, while the third floor has 3/3 sash windows, all set in plain reveals with sills and flat arches made of gauged brick. The ground floor has a modern, glazed and timber shop front, which includes a clock mounted on a bracket. Inside, the ground floor has been renewed, and it is noted that the ceilings throughout the building are said to have been lowered, obscuring any original plasterwork. The building is part of a group of late 18th-century properties at numbers 61-65 High Street.
