Description

A pair of houses, now shops, dating to the 16th century, with later alterations including a probable late 18th-century refronting and rebuilding of the right-hand wall in the 1980s. The houses are built of brick in Flemish bond, and are colourwashed, with a slate roof and a party-wall stack of pinkish-brown brick with an oversailing course and decorative pots. They have two storeys and a total of four first-floor windows to the front. The first floor has two casement windows, each with elliptical arches and two imitation 8/8 sash windows set in flush surrounds and sills. A modillion eaves band runs along the top. The ground floor features a multi-pane shop front to the left, with a part-glazed door at the centre, pilaster strips and a continuous frieze. To the right are two multi-pane Georgian bow windows, also with pilaster strips and a frieze, and a recessed part-glazed door at the centre. A pointed plank door, with raised hollow-chamfered strips, a strap hinge in a hollow-moulded pointed architrave, padstones, and carved roses and mouchettes within the spandrels, sits to the left. An exposed beam is positioned above this door. The interior contains chamfered cross beams and posts to walls, although the remainder of the interior was not inspected. A medieval door, likely reused from one of Worcester's ecclesiastical buildings, is also present.
