Description
This is an outbuilding located about 11 metres south of Holy Claines Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, brick infill, and part rendering, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building consists of two framed bays, with the gable end facing the farmhouse. It is a single storey with an attic.
The framing features three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with large swept braces in the lower corners. The tie-beam trusses have double collars, four queen struts beneath the lower collar, and three above, with a king post in the apex. The main west elevation includes a rectangular light and double ledged and battened doors. Inside, the building is floored throughout, and the roof has a double row of trenched purlins along with an intermediate tie-beam truss similar to the end trusses.
This outbuilding was formerly listed in the parish of North Claines.
