Description
The stable block of the former Perdiswell Hall, along with attached walls and an outbuilding, is located on Droitwich Road in Worcester. This structure, also known as the coach house, dates back to around 1780, with some rebuilding from the 20th century. It features reddish-orange brick in English Garden Wall bond, which has been painted and stuccoed on the front facade. The stable block and house have a slate roof, brick stacks, and stone and brick copings on the walls.
The stable range is one-and-a-half storeys high and consists of seven bays arranged in a 2:3:2 pattern. A central pedimented section projects forward and includes a full-height round-arched opening with a keystone. On either side of this opening are 6/6 cambered-arched sash windows and recessed panels above. A continuous impost band runs along the structure. The outer sections feature 6/6 cambered-arched sashes on the lower level, with fanlights above that have radial glazing bars, all set in wider and taller round-arched recesses. The windows have plain reveals and sills, and the roof is hipped to the right.
The house, which is attached on the left, is two storeys tall and has two first-floor windows. It features a first-floor band and 6/6 cambered-arched sash windows with plain reveals and sills. The entrance on the right consists of a four-flush-panel door topped with a cambered-arched fanlight, also in plain reveals. The roof is hipped on the left and has a coped gable on the right, with tall stacks at the left end and rear, both having oversailing courses and pots.
The walled garden walls are connected to these buildings and form part of the rear wall of the stable block. These walls measure approximately 35 meters by 60 meters and include an off-centre dividing wall with lean-to sheds, standing about 2.5 meters high.
The interior of the buildings has not been inspected. It is noted that Perdiswell Hall was demolished in 1956.
