Description
This is a house located at 27 Britannia Square, built around 1820 with later additions and alterations. It features painted stucco over brick and a hipped slate roof with end stacks that have oversailing details and pots. The house has a single-depth plan with a central hallway and is two storeys high, with two first-floor windows. The stucco is lined to resemble ashlar, and all windows are 8/8 sashes set in plain reveals with sills. The entrance door has six panels and a fanlight with radial glazing bars, framed by a renewed timber Doric-style doorcase that includes an incised geometric design on the pilasters and frieze.
All the listed buildings in Britannia Square form a cohesive group, initiated in 1820 and arranged around a large green where the main house, 'Springfield', is located. This development is comparable to other similar but smaller developments in Worcester, such as Lansdowne Crescent, Lark Hill, and Rainbow Hill Terrace.
