Description

Hyde Cottage is a substantial Italianate house from the mid-19th century, likely incorporating an earlier core. The building is rendered with stone dressings and features low-pitch slate roofs and bracketed eaves. It stands two storeys tall, with a four-window range on the entrance front and six windows on the garden front. The windows are glazing bar sashes set in moulded surrounds, and the structure has angle quoins and a band between the floors. The garden front includes two pedimental gables, while the entrance front has one gable over an emphasized forward break, which is accented by angle quoins and a projecting stone porch. The porch features pedimented details, keyed arches, and angle pilasters, with cambered heads on the ground floor windows on this side.
