Description

The Gables is a house dating from the 16th century, with later alterations. It features a timber-frame structure and painted brick, topped with a plain tile roof. There is a large rendered outside stack on the east gable and a west side stack with paired shafts. The building is one storey and has an attic. Originally, it was in an L shape, but there is now a modern gabled addition in the southeast angle. The original south gable is close-studded and has 2-light casement windows on each floor. The modern gable is made of painted brick. At the east end, there is a single storey modern extension, while the north side has exposed timber-framing and includes a gabled dormer.
