Description

Ivy Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations from the 17th century and later. It is timber framed and rendered, topped with a plain tile roof. The right gable end features stone at the ground floor, which extends a few feet along the front, while the first floor is primarily red brick, laid mostly in header bond. The house is positioned at right angles to the road and has two rooms on the ground floor. It is two storeys tall, sitting on a rendered plinth, and has a gabled roof. There is a red brick gable end stack on the left side. The windows are irregularly arranged, with one two-light wooden casement on the first floor and one three-light casement on the ground floor to the left, along with a three-light casement on the right gable end. The entrance features a boarded door with a flat hood above a plain frieze, located slightly to the right of centre. A short two-storey rendered wing projects forward from the front of the left room, with a lower ridge and a roof that is half-hipped to the front, along with a projecting brick gable end stack on a stone base and one two-light first-floor casement. There is also a short single-storey addition on the left gable end of the main range. The interior has not been inspected.
