Description
The Star Hotel is a two-storey inn, dating from around 1830 to 1840, with a stucco front and an earlier core. It features a low pitch slate roof with stuccoed stacks. The front has four windows arranged in two sections, with a main range of three windows above glazing bar sashes and a door on the left side framed by pilasters. Around 1910, two leaded light windows and a central door, all matching the pilaster framing, were added. The left end section includes tripartite glazing bar sashes and there is a simple moulded eaves cornice.
The side elevation is painted brick and has three dormers with a plain tile roof. Adjacent to the hotel is a former pair of cottages, part of the 1-9 Dunn's Lane range, which is also two storeys, made of painted brick with segment-headed openings and a brick dentil cornice. There are two later inserted attic windows.
