Description
The Anchor Public House is a timber-framed building located on High Street in Upton-upon-Severn, with a painted date of 1601. It consists of at least two construction phases and features two storeys with painted brick infill and plain tile roofs. The structure includes two ranges: one L-shaped range that runs along Dunn's Lane, gable-ended to High Street, and a rear range that is positioned at right angles to it. The Dunn's Lane range has been partially refaced in brick, with exposed timber visible in the end bay facing High Street. The building has renewed bargeboards, and the first-floor window and ground-floor front are from the 19th century, designed to match the original style. An original moulded bressumer is present, and timbers are exposed in the rear gable and rear range. There is a brick stack on the north roof slope, while the second range is taller and set back from High Street, behind a modern single-storey extension. The gable end facing north also showcases exposed timbers, and there is a brick stack located in the valley of the rear range.
