Description
This is a barn located about 5 yards north of The Hyde and next to a hop kiln, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, resting on a tall rubble base, and features a plain tiled roof. The barn has five framed bays arranged in a north-east to south-west direction, with a central wagon bay that has opposing cart entries and a double doorway on the south-east side, while the north-west entry is blocked. The structure is partly two levels. The main south-east elevation includes two square openings and a stable door at the left end bay. Inside, the wall framing consists of long rectangular panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The roof is supported by intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts, although the end trusses were not visible during the survey. This barn is included for its group value.
