Description
Brook Court, formerly known as Brook Farmhouse, is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It features a timber-frame construction with rendered infill and a plain tile roof. The building has a brick stack on a sandstone base, which includes a moulded sandstone string, and a detached brick shaft on the right wall of the right wing. There is also a central stack in the rear roof slope of the main range. The layout is E-shaped, with two storeys and three projecting gabled wings. The windows are irregularly placed and mainly consist of 20th-century casements. The entrance is located in the angle between the right cross-wing and the main range, accessed through a single-storey 17th-century porch, with an additional entry on the left side of the central wing. The timber framing consists of four square panels high to the wall-plate, except for the centre wing which has six panels. The trusses in the right and centre wings have two collars and queen struts, while the left wing features a single collar, queen struts, and V-struts in the apex. Inside, the room accessed from the porch has ovolo moulded beams.
