Description
Willow Grange is a house that likely dates from the 16th century and early 17th century. It features timber-framing and brick construction with tile roofs. The building consists of two cross-wings aligned north to south, connected by a one-bay link. To the east, there is a parallel range built in the 20th century, made of brick with applied timber-framing. The house is two storeys high.
The left-hand (eastern) cross-wing has close-studded timber framing with a middle rail and vertical struts between the tie-beam and collar. It is one bay wide and has 20th-century casement windows, with the upper ones interrupting the tie-beam. The central bay is faced in painted brick, featuring a window on the first floor and an open timber porch below. The right-hand cross-wing is also one bay wide, framed in square panels, and has 20th-century casement windows. There are chimneys located on the outer walls of the cross-wings.
Inside, the ground floor ceilings have been raised, likely in the 20th century. It is said to contain a cruck, according to E Peters, but none is visible on the ground floor.
