Description
This listing describes two gas street lamps, both of which are Grade II listed.
The first lamp, located at the National Grid Reference SO 7749345692, features a square Maxilla lantern that is held up by four straight modern brackets. It is mounted on a tapering octagonal column with a heavily-moulded base and sits on an octagonal plinth that has chamfered and stepped stops. The ladder rest includes octagonal arms topped with octagonal knop finials.
The second lamp, found at the National Grid Reference SO 7754145699, showcases a tapering Windsor lantern supported by four scrolled brackets. This lamp is set on a short circular column that flares into a cushion ring. Below the column is a high octagonal plinth, which has a panel on each face and rests on a square foot. The ladder rest features moulded arms and finials. This lamp was made by Hardy and Padmore of Worcester, and the plinth is marked with the founder's mark.
