Description

This early 19th-century Gothic Revival building comprises two properties, numbers 23 and 25 Abbey Road. The facades are stuccoed and feature battlements. Number 23 is set back and has a battlemented gable with a single sash window featuring glazing bars, below a dripmould to both the first and ground floors. A square-headed doorway, also with a dripmould, is located to the right, now with a modern door and a rectangular fanlight above. An attached iron area railing and gate are present. Number 25 has angle piers that extend through the first floor, featuring trefoiled panels and pinnacles with crockets and finials. A central wooden canted bay has trefoiled lights with quatrefoils above. The ground floor shop projects slightly and has end pilasters with trefoiled panels inset with ornamental tiles. The shop front features a central entrance, windows with glazing bars, an ornamental frieze with carved end brackets, and wrought-iron balcony rails above.
