Description
Foxley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed with brick infill, refacing, and replacement walling, topped with a machine-tiled roof. It has a hall and cross-wing plan, with both sections comprising two framed bays; the hall is aligned east to west, and the cross-wing is at its east gable end. The hall features a large external chimney with a brick ridge stack at its west gable end, while the cross-wing has a large external rubble chimney with a brick stack on its east side elevation. The farmhouse has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar.
The south front elevation shows that the hall part has a lean-to addition on the left, which includes a three-light ground floor casement window and a gabled dormer above with no window. To the right bay, there are two-light casement windows on both floors and a half-glazed door, with the ground floor door and window enclosed within a large mid-20th century flat-roofed partly-glazed addition. The cross-wing gable end features a blocked cellar door, a ground floor two-light casement, and a first floor three-light casement, all with cambered heads, as well as an attic light. Inside, some stop-chamfered main beams are retained. The hall has been extended to the west by a mid-19th century addition, which includes the current main entrance at its gable end and is not included in the listing.
