Description
The structure consists of a wall and two pairs of gates located to the south of the Beauchamp Almshouses, extending approximately 20 metres along the east side and incorporating a third pair of gates. This late 19th-century wall is made of brick with stone coping and features wrought iron gates. The low wall includes two pairs of plain late 19th-century iron gates. Central to the gatehouse are gates purchased in 1871, which are said to be part of the choir gates from Cologne Cathedral. These gates are distinguished by iron openwork piers and a scrolled overthrow with a shield.
