Description
Worcester Lodge and Gates is a former lodge to Croome Court, built around 1800, likely by James Wyatt. The building is constructed from Bath stone ashlar and is two stories high with a slate hipped roof. It has a square plan and features one window range, with an additional slightly set-back one-window section on the west and south fronts. The eaves are moulded, and there is a small moulded string course.
On the west front, there are two Roman Doric columns in antis that flank a ground floor sash window with glazing bars. This window has a moulded sill and dummy balusters below it. The first-floor window is also a glazing bar sash with a moulded sill. To the left, there is a plain one-window range that is slightly set back, with the first-floor window blocked.
The south front features a Roman Doric pedimented doorcase, with a glazing bar sash window above that has a moulded sill. The door has been altered to a window, and there is a set-back one-window range on the right. Attached to the lodge are gates consisting of three corniced stone piers topped with Coade stone urns, along with cast-iron spearhead railings and gates.
