Description

The Panorama is a circular eyecatcher temple built around 1800 by James Wyatt for the 6th Earl of Coventry. It is constructed from Bath stone and consists of two stories. The building features a Roman Doric colonnade that surrounds a circular tower, which is topped by a shallow dome. The colonnade is divided into four recesses by sections of solid wall between each pair of columns. Each wall section includes a niche and a blank panel, with arches connecting each recess. Above the colonnade, there is an entablature and a balustrade. The upper stage of the building has four square-headed windows with moulded surrounds and a simple entablature.
