Description

Hollytree Farmhouse is a late 16th-century farmhouse with alterations from the late 18th and mid-19th centuries. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, partly clad in painted brick, and built in a T-plan consisting of a north/south cross-wing and a long range to the east. The south front features a gabled cross-wing on the left, which is two storeys high with a 2-light casement window under a segmental head on each floor. The range to the right has three 2-light casements and a central gable. The ground floor mirrors the upper floor’s window arrangement. A wooden doorcase with fluted pilasters and a moulded cornice frames the entrance, located to the left of the centre, and a glazed conservatory spans most of the ground floor. The rear of the cross-wing displays timber framing with two square panels to the first floor; the ground floor was likely originally close-studded. A roof truss features a strut to the collar and a yoke, with trenched purlins. Inside, the ingle-nook of the central room has a moulded mantel shelf, and the ceilings feature chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
