Description

This is an early 19th-century farmhouse, altered in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick with a shallow-pitched slate roof, overhanging eaves, acroteria to the front, and large rear ridge stacks. It is three storeys high, featuring a first-floor sill band. The farmhouse has three bays, with the ground-floor bays articulated by blind round-headed archways containing keyblocks. Inserted round-headed sash windows are in the outer bays of the ground floor. The first and second floors have windows with gauged flat heads; the first floor windows are 12-pane replacements from the 20th century, while the second-floor windows are single-hung 9-pane sashes, all with stone sills. The central entrance projects slightly, with a blind round-headed archway featuring imposts. It has a 6-panelled door with glazed panels and a barred segmental fanlight.

A brick wall with sandstone coping, approximately 30 yards long and one foot high, runs along the front of the farmhouse, enclosing a garden about three yards wide. It is supported by cast iron railings that are alternately spear-headed and crescent-headed. A cast iron gateway of ornate design, with slender fluted gate piers, interrupts the wall and railings approximately six yards from their east end. The wall and railings are attached to the house at their east end by a brick wall that rises from approximately five feet to eight feet.
