Description

Grange Farmhouse is an early 17th century farmhouse with later alterations. It is constructed of red brick on a stone base, with three storeys. Stone quoins are visible at the sides of the left-hand bay, terminating at the second floor, indicating that the top storey is a later addition. The right-hand two bays were rebuilt in the early 19th century, also on an earlier stone base. The front facade features three windows, with later casement windows set within chamfered stone surrounds and segmental brick heads. The eaves are detailed with modillion cornices, and the roof is hipped and covered in slate. The interior retains exposed ceiling beams. In a first-floor room on the south side, a fragment of a moulded plaster overmantel survives, bearing the date 1616 and the initials MC.
