Description
Forge Cottage is a house and forge dating from the mid-18th century. It was re-erected and restored in 1978. The building features a timber frame with rendered infill set on a sandstone plinth, topped with a stone tile roof. It consists of three framed bays with a central entrance and staircase, along with a rear outshot, a gable-end stack, and a single-bay forge. The structure is one storey high with an attic that is illuminated by three raked-top dormers. On the ground floor, there are two timber cross-windows and a central entrance with a ledged and boarded door. To the left, the single-storey forge has a shuttered window, with an entrance located in the gable end. The framing includes three rectangular panels high, with two panels high in the forge area, and the trusses have two struts to the collar. The cottage was removed from Wellington, Hereford and Worcester, in 1976.
