Description
Housman Hall is a former home of the poet A. E. Housman and the playwright Lawrence Housman. The house likely dates back to the 17th century, but the current structure is made of 18th-century red brick with a sandstone plinth. It features two semi-circular arched doorways, which have studded boarded doors with strap hinges that probably date from the 17th century. The building is two storeys high and has three windows on the left side, which contain 19th-century Gothic headed lights in painted woodwork. The roof is hipped and covered with old tiles. The right side of the house has a lower portion built of similar brickwork, featuring square-headed casements and a gabled end facing the road. The roof here is a mix of old tiles and machine-made tiles.
